Woman detained for obstructing police during anti-addiction drive at Santirbazar

Agartala, 19th July 2026: Police in Santirbazar subdivision of South Tripura have detained a woman for allegedly obstructing law enforcement officers and attempting to snatch seized liquor from a police vehicle during an anti-addiction drive at Monpathar market area.

According to reports, on July 18, a group of individuals created hindrance during the police operation and tried to forcibly take away liquor that had been confiscated. Following the incident, a case was registered at Shantirbazar police station.

Investigating officers subsequently began identifying those involved. Based on the inquiry, one woman has already been detained. Officer-in-Charge of Santirbazar Police Station, Raju Dutta, stated: “The investigation is ongoing. Everyone involved in this incident will be identified and brought under the purview of law. No one will be spared.”

Police sources confirmed that efforts are continuing to track down and arrest other accused persons linked to the case.
