Barber dies of mysterious head injury at GBP Hospital

Agartala, January 23:  A 42-year-old barber named Raiharan Shil died of a serious head injury at GB Hospital on Monday, sparking suspicion of foul play. The family of the deceased alleged that he was assaulted by a man named Suman, whom he had visited to cut hair.

According to the family, Raiharan Shil, a resident of East Nalchar area, had gone to Suman’s house in Poangbari area a few days ago. He was found unconscious on the road while returning from work. He was taken to Melaghar sub-divisional hospital by some passersby, who informed his family. The doctors at Melaghar sub-divisional hospital referred him to Dr BRAM Teaching Hospital and Tripura Medical College, where a CT scan revealed a blood clot in his head.

He was then shifted to GB Hospital on January 11, where the doctors confirmed that he had suffered a severe head injury. However, they also said that the injury did not look like an accident, but rather a result of a blunt force trauma. The family claimed that they learned this from the doctors and suspected that Suman had hit him on the head.

Raiharan Shil succumbed to his injury on Monday, after undergoing treatment at GB Hospital. His body was handed over to his family after a post-mortem on Tuesday. The family lodged a complaint with the Melaghar police station, demanding justice for the deceased. They also broke down in tears at the hospital, mourning their loss.
