Agartala, 25th April 2025: In observance of World Malaria Day, the Belonia Sub-Divisional Health department today organized an awareness meeting followed by a rally to emphasize the importance of malaria prevention and control.
The event commenced with a discussion meeting at the conference hall of the Health department office attended by Belonia Municipal Council Chairman Nikhil Chandra Gope, Education and Health Standing Committee President Councilor Anupam Chakraborty, South District Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jyotirmoy Das, Sub-Divisional Medical Officer Dr. Subrata Das and Malaria Control Officers. Health workers, including ASHA personnel and employees from the Sub-Divisional Health department also participated.
Following the meeting, a rally was organized from the premises of the Sub-Divisional Hospital with participants carrying placards to raise awareness about malaria prevention. Addressing the media before the rally, Sub-Divisional Health Officer Dr. Subrata Das urged the public to take preventive measures against malaria.
“Prevent the spread of mosquitoes, use mosquito nets to protect yourself from mosquito bites, and wear full-sleeved shirts. Everyone should be aware and spread awareness among others. If every person in society cooperates, we will eradicate malaria from our country by 2030,” Dr. Das stated.
ASHA workers, Health department employees, guests and members of the Belonia Press Club actively participated in the rally reinforcing the call for collective efforts against malaria. The rally proceeded along various routes and concluded at No.1 Tilla spreading the message of mosquito control and malaria eradication.
With strong involvement of local people and persistent awareness campaigns, the hope remains that malaria will be eliminated by 2030.
