Beneficiaries Protest Over Delay in Social Welfare Pension in Mandai Block

Date:

Agartala, 3rd July 2026:   Beneficiaries of social welfare pensions staged a protest at Mandai Block on Friday, alleging that their monthly social welfare allowances have remained unpaid for the last three months.

The protesters claimed that the delay is not limited to Mandai Block but has affected beneficiaries across several blocks in the state under the Social Welfare and Social Education Department. According to them, while some beneficiaries have not received their pensions for three months, others have been waiting for as long as four months.

Speaking during the demonstration, the beneficiaries said they are heavily dependent on these pensions for their daily livelihood and household expenses. They alleged that despite repeatedly approaching the concerned department and local administration, no effective steps have been taken to clear the pending payments.

The protesters demanded the immediate release of the overdue social welfare pensions, warning that they would be compelled to intensify their agitation by blocking the national highway if their dues are not cleared without further delay.

The delay in disbursing the allowances has caused severe financial hardship for many families, beneficiaries said, urging the authorities to address the issue at the earliest.
