Bikash Debbarma reviews conditions at Bru-Reang camp in Dhalai; Visits EMRS at Gandatwisa

Agartala, 22nd November 2025:    Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma today visited the Bru-Reang resettlement camp at Kanankata Para in Ultacherra, Dhalai district to assess the living conditions of the displaced families and directly hear their grievances.

During the visit, the Minister interacted with residents and noted a visible shift in their outlook, remarking that years of hardship are gradually giving way to renewed hope as government-backed development measures take shape.

Debbarma reviewed key aspects of public welfare in the camp, including employment prospects, drinking water access and improvement of road connectivity. He also instructed the district administration to take prompt steps to resolve the issues flagged by the community.

Stressing the importance of education in ensuring long-term socio-economic advancement, the Minister called for strengthening school infrastructure and ensuring regular attendance among children.

He further highlighted the government’s ongoing livelihood programmes, particularly the Rubber Mission, which aims to provide sustainable income sources and promote self-reliance among tribal households.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment, Debbarma assured that continuous efforts will be made to uplift the Bru-Reang community and ensure their secure and dignified integration into mainstream society.

Meanwhile, Debbarma also visited the Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) at Gandatwisa today to closely evaluate academic performance, discipline, and the overall learning atmosphere on campus.

During the inspection, Debbarma interacted with teachers, reviewed classroom setups, and took stock of infrastructure requirements to identify areas that need further improvement for enhancing educational standards.

After the visit, the Minister told reporters that he witnessed remarkable confidence and ambition among the students, describing it as deeply motivating. He said that each student at EMRS Gandatwisa possesses the ability to excel and that it is the government’s priority to convert educational initiatives into meaningful outcomes.

Debbarma said efforts are underway to upgrade facilities, support talent development, and expand opportunities for tribal students to achieve academic success and secure a stronger future.
