Agartala, 30th December 2025: The Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP) organized a state-level workshop at Pragya Bhavan today to strengthen understanding and coordination among departments involved in the implementation of the multi-sectoral project. The workshop was inaugurated by the Tribal Welfare minister Bikash Debbarma.
The workshop aimed to familiarise participants with the fundamentals of multi-sectoral project planning, execution, and inter-departmental convergence. Officers from key line departments Agriculture, Horticulture, ARDD, Fisheries, TRLM, Education, PWD, and DoIT participated in detailed discussions on their respective roles and collaborative mechanisms under TRESP. The livelihood sector received special focus, with presentations on challenges, progress achieved, best practices, and successful field interventions. On the occasion, laptops were also distributed to TRESP staff by the Minister.
Senior officials including Director Shubhashis Das, Secretary Dr. Shashi Kumar, and T. K. Chakma, IAS, shared insights on the project’s vision and implementation framework. In his inaugural address, Minister Debbarma appreciated the efforts of officers and project staff and encouraged them to continue working towards inclusive and sustainable development in tribal areas.
TRESP is a World Bank–funded project with a total outlay of Rs 1,400 crore, being implemented from March 2024 to June 2029 across three sectors Livelihoods, Education, and Roads & Connectivity. Under the Livelihoods component, the project is operational in 23 tribal-dominated blocks across 8 districts of Tripura.
Technical sessions during the workshop were led by Chief Operating Officer Gajendra Verma, Institution Building Specialist Sonali Laskar, and GIS Specialist Naorem Singhjit Singh, who outlined implementation strategies, targets, and monitoring mechanisms. The workshop highlighted substantial progress in forming Producer Groups, expanding livelihood opportunities, and advancing infrastructure and education-related interventions under TRESP.
