Agartala, 25th February 2025: A bike accident took place Bishalgarh’s Lower Market area late last night left two individuals injured. The injured were rescued by Fire department personnel and shifted to Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital. Due to the critical condition of the injured, the on-duty doctors referred them to Tripura Medical College & Dr BR Ambedkar Teaching Hospital at Hapania. However, complaints have been raised by the patients and their relatives about the unavailability of an ambulance at Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital.
Sources informed that a youth named Ranjan Saha was returning home on his bike from an event when he lost control due to high speed and hit an elderly man named Haripada Das in the Lower Market area near State Bank of India at Bishalgarh. The impact caused both the driver Ranjan Saha and the pedestrian Haripada Das to be thrown onto the road along with the bike. Fire department personnel promptly took them to the hospital, where doctors determined that their condition was critical and referred them to Tripura Medical College & Dr BR Ambedkar Teaching Hospital.
Surprisingly, there was no ambulance available for a long time to transfer the patients from Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital. The hospital has only two ambulances, one of which needs to be booked by calling 102. It was only after a long wait that an ambulance arrived to transport the patients.
Relatives of the injured expressed their frustration, stating, “The delay in getting an ambulance could have been fatal. The hospital must improve its services to ensure timely medical assistance.”
