Agartala, 26th March 2024 : BJP candidates for Lok Sabha seats in the state, including former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and Kriti Singh Debbarma, will file their nominations on March 27 and 28.
This decision emerged from a comprehensive meeting between BJP leaders, Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT), and Tipra Motha leaders at the Sonar Tari Hotel in Agartala. The meeting marked the first coordination effort between BJP, IPFT, and Tipra Motha ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Held behind closed doors, the meeting lasted around 2 hours.
Attendees included Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Biplab Kumar Deb (West Tripura Lok Sabha seat candidate), Kriti Singh Debbarma (East Tripura Lok Sabha seat candidate), Tripura BJP President Rajib Bhattacharya, Tipra Motha Founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, Tipra Motha President Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhawl, Minister Animesh Debbarma, and other legislators from IPFT and Tipra Motha.
Rajib Bhattacharya, BJP state president, shared insights from the meeting, stating that it primarily focused on strategizing for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. “Given BJP’s governance in the state and our agreement with Tipra Motha, which led to their participation in the government, this coordination meeting was crucial,” he explained.
Outlining the plan devised during the meeting, Bhattacharya emphasized the grassroots level coordination to bolster PM Modi’s prospects by securing victory in both Lok Sabha seats. He revealed that nominations for the West Tripura Parliamentary seat will be submitted on March 27, with a rally commencing at 10 AM in front of Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan in Agartala. Similarly, nominations for the East seat will be filed on March 28 at Ambassa in Dhalai District, with full participation from leaders, MLAs, and MDCs to ensure success in both constituencies.
