Agartala, 23rd March 2024:  Biplab Kumar Deb, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s nominated candidate for the West Tripura Lok Sabha constituency, launched a scathing attack against the CPIM at the Banmalipur Mandal ‘Pristha Pramukh’ and ‘Karyakarta Sanmelan’ on Saturday. He accused the communists of creating a drug route with the intent to destroy the new generation and rule Tripura under the guise of drugs.

Deb criticized the Congress and the communists for their lack of concern for the poor, alleging that they were more focused on party interests. He contrasted this with the BJP government’s efforts to empower the women of the state, accusing the CPIM government of neglecting to take any steps towards women’s self-reliance during their 25-year tenure.

He proudly highlighted his own contributions during his tenure as Chief Minister, including the reservation of 33 percent of government jobs in the state for women. He criticized communist states for failing to make similar provisions, accusing them of merely organizing women’s associations.

Deb expressed concern over the increasing drug addiction among the youth, attributing it to the communists’ smuggling of intoxicants into the state. He praised the BJP government’s efforts since 2018 to make Tripura drug-free.

Deb also blamed the Congress-CPIM alliance for the riots in Tripura, alleging that Congress workers had been killed by communists in the past. He pointed out the current political scenario where the CPM is supporting the Congress candidate for the Lok Sabha elections, and vice versa.
