The documentary, screened at Sukanta Academy Theater on Friday, sheds light on the alarming trend of drug addiction, particularly among the educated youth, and its dire consequences.

“Addiction is rampant in highly educated families,” remarked a concerned attendee. “The youth are going astray due to parental neglect, as many parents are preoccupied with their jobs and businesses, losing track of their children’s activities and associations.”

The screening was part of an awareness workshop on the role of journalists in controlling AIDS, jointly organized by the Tripura State AIDS Control Society, Tripura Journalists Union, and Tripura Web Media Forum. The event highlighted the critical role media plays in addressing public health crises.

Birat Roy Chowdhury, a resident of Agartala and Son of Editor of Pratibadi Kalam Anal Roy Chowdhury  utilized his technical education and creative talents to produce the documentary, aiming to raise awareness and prompt action. “This documentary is my effort to showcase the talent and skills of our state’s artists,” Chowdhury said during his felicitation. “More importantly, it is an attempt to liberate the youth from the grip of addiction and to inform the underprivileged about these dangers.”

The documentary paints a stark picture of the current state of affairs in the smart city, where smart addiction is claiming the lives of young people. “Parents dream of their children becoming good people through education, but the reality is far from it,” another attendee noted. “The youth are drowning in addiction, and it’s imperative that we act now.”
