Bishalgarh Block Office Hit by Theft, Suspect Held After CCTV Footage

Agartala, 4th September 2026 :  Government offices in Tripura are increasingly becoming targets of thieves, with a daring theft reported at the Bishalgarh Block office on the night of September 2.

According to reports, thieves broke into the Bishalgarh Block office and stole copper pipes from air-conditioning units along with bathroom taps. As the office remained closed for two days, the incident went unnoticed until Friday.

The theft came to light when employees reviewed CCTV footage installed at the block office. The footage reportedly captured a young man entering the premises. The suspect was identified as Subrata Saha.

The employees immediately informed Bishalgarh police. Police personnel reached the spot, detained Saha and took him to the police station for questioning.

Preliminary police investigation revealed that the detained suspect is a resident of the Sidhai Panchabati area.

Police have initiated an investigation into the incident and are looking into whether others were involved in the theft.
