Date:

Agartala, 4th September 2026 :   Ahead of the upcoming Village Committee elections, CPI(M)-led Left Front candidates filed their nomination papers at the Satcchand Block office on Friday, accompanied by a rally of party workers and supporters.

There are a total of 111 seats across 15 ADC villages under the Satcchand Block. On Friday, Left Front-backed CPI(M) candidates submitted nomination papers for 101 seats. According to party sources, candidates for the remaining seats will file their nominations over the next few days.

CPI(M) leaders including Krishna Rakshit, Shankar Prasad Dutta, former MLA Prabhat Chowdhury, Arun Tripura, Biplab Sanyal, Gautam Bhowmik and Barjung Kumar Tripura, along with other party leaders and supporters, participated in the nomination programme.

Former MLA Prabhat Chowdhury said people were prepared to give a befitting reply to what he described as the “corruption and nepotism” of Tipra Motha through the upcoming Village Committee elections.

He also claimed that although the nomination process began on September 1, the BJP and Tipra Motha had not been able to finalise their candidates even by September 4.

Chowdhury expressed confidence that the Left Front candidates contesting from the 15 ADC villages under Satcchand Block would secure victory with strong public support.

The rally and nomination filing generated considerable enthusiasm among CPI(M) workers and supporters in the Satcchand Block area.
