Bishalgarh, September 20, 2023: In a significant breakthrough for law enforcement, an alleged perpetrator in a NDPS case hailing from the Karuimura area was apprehended by Bishalgarh police late on Tuesday at 2:30 pm and subsequently handed over to the Pecharthal police station.
The accused, identified as Inus Mia, a 25-year-old individual and son of the late Swargiya Hafiz Mia, stands accused in an ongoing NDPS case registered with the Pecharthal police station. The case is related to a cannabis seizure that took place on December 6, 2022, when Pecharthal police intercepted a vehicle loaded with cannabis en route from Khayerpur to an out-of-state destination. Subsequently, an NDPS Act case (2022PTL053) under Indian Penal Code Sections 20(B)(ii)(C)/25/29 NDPS Section 2022PTL053 was filed against Inus Mia.
For an extended period, the accused had managed to evade law enforcement. However, recent intelligence led Pecharthal police to believe that Inus Mia had returned to his residence in the Karuimura area of Bishalgarh. Acting promptly on this information, the Pecharthal police station relayed the details to Bishalgarh police.
Under the guidance of Bishalgarh Police Officer Tapas Das, a late-night police operation was executed, resulting in the arrest of the accused Inus Mia from his residence in Karuimura. Subsequently, he was transferred into the custody of the Pecharthal Police Station.
It is anticipated that Pecharthal police will present the accused before the court on Wednesday. Authorities have also indicated that additional individuals involved in the ganja trafficking operation will be pursued and apprehended in due course. Inus Mia has reportedly cooperated with law enforcement by disclosing the identities of other alleged accomplices involved in the illicit cannabis trade during his interrogation.
