Bishalgarh police nab three heroin peddlers, one escapes

Agartala, 4th November 2023:   In a crackdown on drug trafficking, the Bishalgarh police arrested three heroin peddlers and seized a bike, cash and ration card from them on Friday night. One of their accomplices managed to flee the spot, leaving behind his bike.

According to Tapas Das, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Bishalgarh police station, he received a tip-off that some drug dealers were coming to Karaimura market to sell heroin. He along with a team of Tripura State Rifles (TSR) personnel reached the market and laid a trap.

As per the information, two drug dealers arrived at the market on a Pulsar bike bearing registration number TR07D5066. Two others came to buy the contraband from them. The police team nabbed the four dealers and recovered a packet of 7 grams of heroin, 120 containers of brown sugar and Rs 8495 in cash from them. However, one of the dealers threw dust in the eyes of the police and escaped.

The arrested drug dealers have been identified as Morshed Alam, son of Fahim Mia of Ratan Nagar Boarding Para, Aktar Hossain, son of Abu Taher of Charilam Uttarmura and Ratan Sutradhar, son of late Rohini Sutradhar of Karuimura. The absconding dealer has been identified as Nasir Ahmed, son of Kismat Ali of Vishalgarh Nowapara.

A case has been registered against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Bishalgarh police station (case number 111/2023). The three accused has been produced before the Bishalgarh court on Saturday. The police are also conducting raids to nab the escaped dealer.

The Bishalgarh police have been carrying out a drive against drug dealers under the leadership of OC Tapas Das, who has vowed to make Bishalgarh drug-free. He has been supported by the local leaders in his efforts. Many drug dealers have been arrested and sent to jail in the past few days. The people of Bishalgarh hope that the police will continue their campaign and eradicate the menace of drugs from the area.
