Bishwamaitri Sanskriti Parishad hosts central conference 2025 in Agartala

Agartala, 7th June 2025:  The Bishwamaitri Sanskriti Parishad, an international cultural organization inaugurated its Central Conference 2025 today at the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel, Lichubagan here. The two-day event running from 3 PM to 8:30 PM will feature cultural programs, tree plantation drives and discussions on environmental sustainability and harmony.

The previous central conference was held in Bolpur, West Bengal on August 10–11, 2024. This year’s edition centers on the theme: “Protect the Environment, Promote Harmony, Solidarity and Fraternal Unity.”

Founded on November 25, 2020, on the occasion of Kazi Nazrul Islam’s birthday during the Covid pandemic, the Bishwamaitri Sanskriti Parishad was established to foster global cultural connections and unity. The organization maintains active branches in West Bengal, Tripura, Assam, Delhi, Mumbai, Bihar, Bangladesh and beyond.

On June 7, the event began with a Tree Plantation & Cultural Inauguration inspired by Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan. A symbolic Panchabhuta (Five Elements) plantation will take place, featuring Banyan, Peepal, Bel, Ashoka and Amla trees, representing Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Space. Additionally, a special edition of “Bishwamaitri” Patrika (Vol. 2, Issue 2) will be released.

On June 8, the Central Conference & Grand Cultural Night will take place. The conference discussions are scheduled from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM, followed by cultural performances from 3 PM to 8:30 PM featuring representatives from various regions.

The event will witness the presence of MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, MLA Sushanta Deb, Chairman of the State Cultural Advisory Committee, Tripura Subrata Chakraborty and Joint Director of the Directorate of Biotechnology Antan Sengupta along with several cultural luminaries.

More than 200 artists and delegates from Kolkata, Santiniketan, North 24 Parganas, Nadia, West Tripura, North Tripura, Sepahijala and Agartala will be participating. Although representatives from Bangladesh, New York, Florida and Toronto will be unable to attend due to various circumstances, they have conveyed their warm wishes and solidarity.

The conference aims to strengthen cross-cultural dialogue and promote collective efforts toward environmental conservation and social unity.
