Biswabandu, Gopal submit nomination for Speaker post

Agartala: March 23. BJP nominated candidate Biswabandhu Sen and Opposition nominated candidate Gopal Chandra Roy have submitted their nomination papers for the election of Speaker of the Tripura legislative Assembly today.

Speaking on the matter, Bisnu Pada Karmakar, Secretary of Tripua Legislative Assembly said that they have received three nominations on favour of Biswabandhu Sen while one nomination submitted in favour of Gopal Chandra Roy.

“This time we have two candidates and four nominations were filed. The vote process will start from tomorrow at 11 AM inside the Assembly”,

After submitting the nomination papers, BJP MLA Biswabandhu Sen said, “Our party has selected me as speaker and so I have submitted my nomination papers even the Chief Minister and other ministers has also supported me and I want to thank them. I believe that all the MLAs of my party will support me as speaker. The election will be held tomorrow. I also congratulate the oppositions MLAs. Everyone is confident of winning any elections but results will give the correct answers”.

Speaking on the occasion Power minister Ratan Lal Nath said, “We have decided to field senior leader Biswa Bandhu Sen as a candidate of Speaker. Our Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and other ministers has proposed the name of Sen and supported him. I want to tell all the MLAs that our candidate is experience and served as deputy speaker. I want to request all to cast vote for him”.

To a query on Congress, Minister Nath said, “One of the leaders from opposition has said alvida politics (retirement from politics) and said that BJP can’t cross double digit. He might be expert in English but in Mathematics he is weak. I want to request him to learn mathematics from our BJP MLA Jadab Lal Nath. Jadab Lal Nath is also aware about the chemistry of politics so he should have taken some coaching classes from Nath. BJP came out as majority and his party only in single digit”.

He further requested the candidate of opposition party to withdraw their candidature to maintain the decorum of the house even though BJP have the majority numbers.

The opposition candidate Gopal Chandra Roy who was accompanied by PCC Chief Birajit Sinha, CPIM MLA and state committee secretary Jitendra Chaudhury, Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman, has said, “I am grateful that opposition leaders have fielded me as candidate of speaker and I believe that the MLAs will cast vote in favour of me to maintain the decorum of the Assembly house”.
