Agartala, 31st July 2026: A sensational allegation has surfaced against Sunil Sarkar, popularly known as Tufan, the Booth President of Booth No. 12 under Baniyachhara Gram Panchayat in the Dhanpur Assembly constituency. He stands accused of misappropriating over Rs 1 lakh under the pretext of settling a bike accident dispute.
Reportedly, about a month ago, a collision occurred between a bike ridden by Mannan Miah, son of Abul Miah of Chundal Kukiachhara, and resident Bhajan Das. Das sustained serious injuries and was admitted to GB Hospital for several days.
Following the accident, an arbitration meeting was convened. Allegations claim that Tufan coerced Mannan Miah’s family into paying Rs 1,30,000, warning them of possible legal complications. However, while the family handed over the full amount, the injured Bhajan Das reportedly received only Rs 25,000. The remaining Rs 1,05,000 is alleged to have been pocketed by Tufan.
The revelation has sparked outrage. Mannan’s family, devastated by the alleged fraud, has announced plans to lodge a formal complaint at Melaghar Police Station, demanding the return of the misappropriated funds.
The incident has triggered tension in the area, with residents awaiting the response of the police and administration to these serious allegations of fraud and deception.
