BJP candidate demands repoll in two booths of Purai Champahour

Date:

Agartala, 13th April 2026:   The TTAADC election held yesterday witnessed several incidents of tension, including allegations of obstruction of polling agents, disruption at polling stations, and attempts to create unrest in multiple areas.

Although no major political party has formally demanded a statewide re-poll, complaints and demands for re-election in specific booths have emerged from candidates and party representatives following the voting process.

In one such development, the ruling party in the state, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has submitted a written complaint seeking a re-poll in two booths under the No. 10 Purai Champahour constituency. The complaint was lodged with the Returning Officer, who is also the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Ambassa.

BJP candidate Bimal Debbarma alleged that workers of the opposition Tipra Motha were involved in booth capturing and prevented general voters from exercising their franchise in the affected polling stations.

The BJP has strongly demanded fresh polling in the two booths, citing serious irregularities and violations during the voting process. Officials have not yet issued an official response regarding the complaint or the demand for re-polling.

Further developments are awaited as election authorities review the allegations and assess reports from polling personnel.
