Agartala, 24th June 2024: Pradesh BJP chief spokesperson Subrata Chakraborty on Monday addressed recent allegations made by opposition leaders. Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury, leaders Pabitra Kar and Sudhan Das have accused the BJP of various wrongdoings, but Chakraborty vehemently denied their claims.
Land Dispute and Blackmail Accusations: According to Chakraborty, the opposition leaders attempted to mislead the public by holding press conferences. They allegedly sought to reclaim lost land by exerting pressure on the government. Chakraborty dismissed these allegations, stating, “This is an attempt to mislead people. There is no clarity in Jitendra Chowdhury’s statements.”
Dipak Majumder’s Oath as MLA: Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, who won as a BJP candidate in the 7-Ramnagar Assembly Constituency by-elections recently took oath as an MLA. However, Jitendra Chaudhury accused Majumder of violating constitutional provisions. Chakraborty refuted this claim, asserting that it was baseless.
School Closures: The opposition alleged that the state government was shutting down 961 schools. Chakraborty clarified that this accusation lacked factual basis. He cited a letter from the Union Ministry of Education to the State Education Department, which identified 549 schools with fewer than 50 students. Chakraborty emphasized that alternative schools existed within a 3-kilometer radius of these institutions.
Job Notification Controversy: Jitendra Chaudhury claimed that the state government issued and later canceled a notification for government jobs. Chakraborty countered this, stating that the government provided jobs transparently, ensuring no cancellations. “This allegation is completely false and misleading,” he declared.
Chakraborty concluded the press conference, reaffirming the BJP’s commitment to transparency and accountability. Other state BJP members were also present during the event.
