Agartala, 24th June 2024: In the last six months, Tripura Traffic Police have taken stringent measures against traffic violations, seizing over 21,000 driving licenses and suspending more than 7,000, as stated by Superintendent Manik Das. The crackdown primarily targets illegal parking and vehicles causing extensive traffic jams in Agartala and throughout the state.

“We’ve observed that illegal parking by both private and commercial vehicles significantly obstructs traffic flow in the city. Our enforcement actions are consistent across Agartala and other regions,” SP Das informed reporters on Monday.

He emphasized the necessity for adherence to parking regulations, warning of continued legal repercussions for violators. “Initially, we focused on seizing licenses and imposing suspensions. Now, we’ve expanded to impounding vehicles and revoking registrations,” he added.

The Traffic Police urge public cooperation in maintaining parking discipline to alleviate congestion issues persisting across Tripura.
