Power crisis plunges Kamalpur villages into darkness

Date:

Agartala, 14th April 2026:  Severe disruption in power supply has left large parts of Mahadev Bazar and Kanailal Halam Para under the Dhanchandra ADC Village Council in Kamalpur subdivision in darkness. Residents say electricity services have been virtually paralyzed for days, despite no natural calamity in the area.

Wires hang loosely from poles, but homes remain without power — a stark picture of the corporation’s inefficiency. Daily life has been thrown into disarray: businesses in the market are suffering losses, households face constant hardship, and students are struggling to study in schools without electricity.

Locals allege repeated complaints to the Electricity Corporation have gone unanswered. One resident said calls are made to the Sub-Divisional Officer every day, yet no repair work is undertaken. Power supply collapses even at the slightest sign of bad weather, they added.

Frustration is mounting, with residents accusing the corporation of negligence and irresponsibility. “Is this office, run with public money, only for show? Or are we being deliberately pushed into darkness?” one villager asked.

Community members have warned that unless the situation is resolved immediately, they will take to the streets in protest. All eyes are now on whether the corporation will act before public anger boils over.
