Khowai prepares for vote counting amid tight security

Agartala, 14th April 2026:   Ahead of the upcoming vote counting for two seats under the Autonomous District Council (ADC), Inspector General (IG) of Security, Ipa Munchak, visited Khowai today to review law and order arrangements.

The counting of votes for seat numbers 9 and 12 is scheduled to take place on April 17, at the office of the Khowai Sub-Divisional Magistrate. To ensure smooth proceedings, the IG arrived at 3 p.m. and was accorded a guard of honor at the office of the Superintendent of Police.

Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs for the two constituencies are currently stored at the SDM’s office. The IG inspected security measures surrounding the premises and held a meeting with Superintendent of Police Bogati Jagadishwar Reddy and other senior officers to assess preparedness.

Speaking to officials, the IG emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and harmony during the counting process. He appealed to all political parties and the public to respect the democratic outcome, noting that victory and defeat are part of elections. His message urged collective responsibility in preserving law and order so that the overall situation in Khowai remains peaceful.
