Agartala, 12th April 2026: Tripura BJP president Rajib Bhattacharya on Sunday said the party is optimistic about securing a majority in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections, paving the way for what it calls a “triple engine government” in the council.
Polling for all 28 seats of the TTAADC was conducted from 7 am and concluded at 5 pm, with an estimated voter turnout of around 83 percent amid tight security arrangements.
Addressing the media, Bhattacharya noted that voter participation appeared higher compared to the previous election, where turnout stood at about 82 percent in 2021. He said the final figures may increase slightly once all data is compiled.
He also thanked election officials, polling personnel, security forces, and journalists for ensuring smooth conduct of the election, and expressed gratitude to voters for their enthusiastic participation.
According to him, both the Central Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the state government under Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha have been working toward the development of tribal communities in sectors such as education, healthcare, housing, and infrastructure. He added that a BJP-led administration in the TTAADC would further accelerate development in tribal areas.
Bhattacharya stated that the party is fully confident of victory and reiterated its aim to form a “triple engine government” in the council. He also mentioned that complaints regarding alleged irregularities in certain areas have been submitted to Returning Officers, and expressed hope that appropriate action would be taken.
He further said that BJP’s main electoral contest in the TTAADC polls is against Tipra Motha, against whom the party has also lodged complaints.
