ADC Polls: Left Front Flags Administrative Lapses

Date:

Agartala, 12th April 2026:  The Tripura Left Front Committee on Sunday alleged that the State Election Commission and police administration showed lapses in ensuring a free and fair conduct of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections. The polls were conducted in 28 seats, beginning at 7 AM and ending at 5 PM, recording an estimated voter turnout of 83%.

In a statement, Left Front Convener Manik Dey said the elections were marked by tensions and clashes between rival political groups in several areas. He also alleged incidents where polling agents of Left Front candidates were prevented from entering booths, along with voter intimidation and obstruction at multiple locations.

He stated that it could not be claimed the elections were conducted in a completely fear-free atmosphere, though he praised voters for participating in large numbers despite alleged pressure and inducements. He further alleged instances of bogus voting in some areas and pointed to weaknesses in the election administration and security arrangements. The Left Front Committee, however, appreciated the voters for turning out in large numbers despite the challenges.
