BJP leader’s son detained on suspicion of thief, court grants bail

Agartala: October 10. Locals have detained one BJP leader’s son on suspicion of theft. The accused was identified as Sanjay Debnath son of Tapan Debnath who is a BJP leader. He is the leader of the ruling BJP party. He is a resident of Dhajanagar in Bishalgarh. Sanjay has been accused of stealing various items including cello machines and iron parts from houses in the area for the past few months. No one dared to say anything due to his father being the leader.

On Sunday morning, he was surrounded by the people of the Baidyardighi Kasba area and detained red-handed. After questioning, the locals were able to recover from him pump motor and shallow machine and other iron articles. The villagers got angry and tied him to an electricity pole in Baidyardighi Bazaar. As soon as the news of the thief’s arrest spread, the eager crowd gathered in the Kasba area. Information was given to the Bishalgarh police station. The police rushed and rescued Sanjay from the wrath of the angry crowd. Later he was sent to Bishalgarh Court however late the court released Sanjay on conditional bail.
