Agartala Dec 05: Protesting against various issues related to students’ education, the TMC activists gheraoed state education minister Ratan Lal Nath’s residence here on Monday.
“Right to Education is a democratic right, but the BJP-led state government has snatched away the democratic right from the students across the state”, said Tripura Trinamool Congress Student Union’s activists.
Speaking to the reporters, Shivam Saha, Pradesh TMC Student Wing president said, “Free and compulsory education is the right of every citizen of India. But the similar right is not practised in the state under BJP-led governance”.
“In the name of Vidyajyoti Schools, money is looted from the poor families who are unable to earn two times meal. Following this many students are leaving schools almost every month”, he alleged.Saha further alleged,” It seems the state BJP government does not want children to get educated but it wants to make them members of Bike-Bahini”.
The agitators raised slogans against the state education minister Ratan Lal Nath, chief minister Dr Manik Saha for trampling on democratic rights of the students and youths.Later, a large contingent of state Police and TSR reached the spot and arrested the agitators to free the spot.
