Agartala, 28th October 2025 : BJP’s national spokesperson and North-East coordinator Dr. Sambit Patra arrived in Tripura on Tuesday, marking a politically significant visit amid escalating tensions in the state’s ruling coalition. He was received at MBB Airport by MLA Bhagaban Das and other senior party leaders.
Soon after his arrival, Dr. Patra met with BJP Tripura state president and MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, signaling a series of high-level discussions likely to follow.
His visit comes at a time when Tripura’s political landscape is witnessing heightened friction. Multiple incidents have exposed rifts between the ruling BJP and its ally, Tipra Motha. Chief Minister Manik Saha has publicly criticized the coalition partner over recent developments, further intensifying the discord. Internal dissent within the BJP has also surfaced, adding to the growing unrest.
Political observers view Dr. Patra’s presence in the state as a strategic move, potentially aimed at damage control and realignment within the party and its alliance. With statewide debates already underway, his visit is being closely watched for its implications on Tripura’s political stability.
