Agartala, 10th October 2026 : Tripura BJP Secretary Mimi Majumder on Saturday criticised the Congress over allegations against its MP Bimal Akoijam and demanded his resignation.
The BJP staged a protest against the Congress, accusing the party of adopting double standards on issues related to women’s safety and misconduct.
Majumder referred to allegations made by female students against Akoijam during his tenure at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). She also referred to reports of an internal inquiry by the university and questioned the Congress leadership’s response to the matter.
She said the Congress should take strict action against its MP if the allegations are proven and called on him to resign from his position.
Accusing the Congress of remaining silent when allegations involve its own leaders, Majumder said the party should maintain the same standards of accountability that it demands from others.
She reiterated her demand for Akoijam’s resignation and urged the Congress leadership to take appropriate action.The allegations mentioned by Majumder have not been independently verified for this report.
