BJP to launch 8-month ‘Sampriti Sankalp Abhiyan’ to mark Guru Ravidas’s 650th birth anniversary

Date:

Agartala, 28th July 2026 :   The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will launch an eight-month-long ‘Sampriti Sankalp Abhiyan’ across Tripura from July 29 to February 20 to commemorate the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Shiromani Sri Guru Ravidas Maharaj. The campaign aims to promote the ideals of social harmony, equality, and humanity through a series of social, cultural, religious, and awareness programmes across the state.

The announcement was made during a press conference held at the BJP state office in Agartala on Tuesday. BJP State General Secretary and MLA Bhagaban Chandra Das, Vice-President Ajanta Bhattacharya, and State Media In-charge Sunit Sarkar addressed the media.

Speaking at the event, Bhagaban Chandra Das said the campaign is not merely a religious observance but a nationwide initiative to spread the message of unity, social justice, and equality among all sections of society. He stated that programmes would be conducted in every district of Tripura in line with the nationwide campaign.

Highlighting the life and teachings of Guru Ravidas, Das said the saint, born in Varanasi into a socially marginalized community, dedicated his life to promoting equality, brotherhood, spirituality, and human dignity despite facing caste-based discrimination. He stressed the need to introduce Guru Ravidas’s philosophy to the younger generation and said many great personalities in Indian history remain under-recognized.

Das also appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to bring Guru Ravidas’s life and teachings into the national spotlight. He informed that the campaign will begin with lamp-lighting ceremonies at Guru Ravidas temples across the state, followed by religious gatherings, discussion sessions, and public awareness programmes. He urged party workers and the public to actively participate and pay tribute to Guru Ravidas in their homes, expressing confidence that the initiative would strengthen social harmony and human values throughout society.
