Agartala, 2nd November 2025 :  Senior leaders of the BJP and its youth wing, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), erupted in protest against Congress MLA Birajit Sinha today, levelling a series of serious allegations during a press conference held at the BJP district office in Kailashahar.

The press meet was attended by Arup Dhar, President of BJYM’s Unakoti district committee; Shubhankar Majumdar, Secretary of BJYM’s state committee; Bimal Kar, President of BJP’s Unakoti district unit; Arun Saha, General Secretary; Debashish Sen, District Spokesperson; and women’s leader Chapala Rani Debroy.

Addressing the media personnel here, BJP spokesperson Debashish Sen alleged that during a recent flare-up over a contractor dispute in the Paiturbazar area, weapons including sticks and sharp objects were taken out from the vehicle of Congress MLA Birajit Sinha, sparking panic in the locality. He further claimed that Sinha led an armed rally without administrative permission, branding the act as “completely illegal.”

“This is not the first time Birajit Sinha has resorted to such tactics,” Sen said. “He has repeatedly created an atmosphere of terror in Kailashahar in the past.” Sen, a former Congress member himself, recalled that during Sinha’s tenure as a minister in the Congress-led coalition government from 1988 to 1992, he had allegedly orchestrated attacks not only on opposition members but also on his own party workers.

Sen questioned Sinha’s developmental record, asking, “What development work did Birajit Sinha carry out in Kailashahar during his tenure as a minister when the Congress was in power at the Centre? The public deserves an answer.”

He contrasted Sinha’s alleged inaction with the recent efforts of Chandipur MLA and state minister Tinku Roy, who, according to Sen, has implemented development projects worth several crores in Kailashahar over the past two years. “Unable to digest this progress, Birajit Sinha is now trying to incite political unrest,” he added.

The BJP claimed that thousands of BJYM workers are preparing to take to the streets in protest against Sinha’s actions, signaling a potential escalation in political tensions in the region.
