Agartala, 27th July 2026 : Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Tripura State Unit, on Monday organised a protest rally and submitted a deputation to the Superintendent of Police (West Tripura), demanding the immediate arrest of Congress leaders allegedly involved in the recent protest near the private residence of Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha.
Addressing the media, newly appointed BJYM State President Arindam Deb alleged that the Congress-led protest was an “illegal and undemocratic attempt” to create unrest in the state. Referring to the July 20 incident, he said the Chief Minister had promptly initiated all legal procedures and constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to ensure a fair probe into the matter. Despite this, he alleged, the Congress sought to mislead the public by violating established protest norms and attempting to enter the Chief Minister’s private residence without permission.
Deb maintained that while peaceful protest is a democratic right, unlawful demonstrations targeting a private residence cannot be justified. He also accused the Congress and the CPI(M) of working together to create political unrest, alleging that both parties repeatedly resort to “drama and conspiracy” to mislead the public. He further criticised the Leader of the Opposition, accusing him of insulting police personnel and administrative officials on several occasions.
BJYM State Vice-President Vikki Prasad echoed the allegations, claiming that the people of Tripura had rejected both the Congress and the CPI(M) because of their past governance. He alleged that Congress workers created chaos at the Chief Minister’s family residence and noted that police had already registered a suo motu case against those involved.
Prasad said the BJYM’s deputation demanded strict legal action against all those allegedly responsible for the incident, irrespective of their political position. He asserted that the Yuva Morcha would continue to oppose what it described as attempts by the Congress and the CPI(M) to disturb peace in the state through democratic means.
