Agartala, 8th March 2025 : Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today said that we have to play a special role in keeping humanity alive—not only in times of war or disaster, but also in everyday life—and that everyone must make efforts to ensure humanity is not neglected.
“The state government is working with transparency under the directions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” said Dr. Saha while virtually inaugurating the district-level blood donation camp organized by the Indian Red Cross Society, State Branch, on the occasion of World Red Cross Day, 2025.The Chief Minister said that the theme of today’s program is ‘Keeping Humanity Alive’.
“This program of the Red Cross Society is very important, especially at a time when humanity appears to be declining all around. The day is being observed globally by this organization, which was established in 1863 by the renowned social worker Henry Dunant. World Red Cross Day is celebrated worldwide on May 8, commemorating his birthday,” he said. The Chief Minister also noted that the Saharsh Utsav was launched yesterday.
“The main objective of this Saharsh program is to relieve students from the pressure of studies from first to eighth grade and to instill humanity, patriotism, values, and responsibility in them—because children are the future. At one time, people used to come to India from abroad to receive education. Everything here, including education, was of very high quality. After taking charge as Prime Minister, Narendra Modi is working to rebuild that India,” said Dr. Saha.He added that the state government will provide all possible support to the service work of the Red Cross Society.Dr. Saha further stated that doctors and health workers are working tirelessly to provide medical services.
“GB Hospital remains a source of hope for people’s survival. Every day, many patients are recovering and returning home. Although such positive developments are rarely discussed, whenever an unfortunate incident occurs, the health services face criticism. Doctors and health workers are often insulted—this too is a question of humanity. We must also highlight the good work being done by doctors and health workers. Trying to reach a throne by blaming others is like living in a fool’s paradise. In the case of blood donation, maintaining a balance between demand and supply is very important,” he added.
The event was attended by distinguished guests including Chairman of the State Branch of the Red Cross Society BK Roy, Vice President Paramananda Banerjee, Secretary Chandan Debnath, District Magistrate of the West District Dr. Vishal Kumar, and other office bearers.
