Agartala, 3rd June 2026: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today said that there is no substitute for blood, and just as the recipient benefits from blood donation, the donor also benefits physically and mentally.
He said that Tripura is much ahead of other states in the blood donation programme. “The blood donation programme has become a movement in the state today. Blood donation programmes should be organized more frequently for the welfare of society,” said Dr. Saha.
Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha said this while inaugurating a blood donation camp organized by the Ramakrishna Club in Ramnagar, Agartala, today. The Chief Minister said that anyone between the ages of 18 and 65 can donate blood.
“Everyone should come forward to donate blood. In terms of population, the state needs to have forty thousand units of blood stored in blood banks. The state has more blood stored than that. In the past, there was no unit for separating blood components in the state. Currently, separation units have been set up in hospitals. Adequate blood banks have also been established across the state,” said Dr. Saha.
The Chief Minister said that in the past, clubs in the state did not have a healthy environment. Currently, clubs are becoming more involved in various social service activities, including blood donation, which is a good sign for society. Especially today, clubs and many social organizations are being run by women.
“Women are also coming forward for various service activities through these organizations, which could not have been imagined in the past. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given special emphasis to women’s empowerment to take the country forward,” he added. At the blood donation camp, the Chief Minister spoke to the blood donors and inquired about their physical condition.
The special guests at the programme included Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumdar, Nantu Bhattacharya, Secretary of the Advisory Committee of the Ramakrishna Club, Ramakrishna Club President Nirmal Bardhan, and Secretary Sanjay Majumdar.
