Agartala, 10th June 2026:   A violent clash erupted between two brothers’ families on Wednesday morning in Ward No. 5 of South Baghan Gram Panchayat, under Churaibari Police Station in North Tripura district, leaving six people injured.

The injured were rushed to the Kadamtala Community Health Centre, while three of them were later referred to Dharmanagar District Hospital for advanced treatment.

On one side, Jalal Uddin (45), his wife Raina Begum (44), and their son Chalek Uddin (28) sustained serious injuries. On the other side, Nur Uddin (62), his son Zakir Hossain (35), and daughter-in-law Reshma Begum were also hurt.

According to local sources, the dispute began around 7 a.m. following a minor verbal altercation, which quickly escalated into a violent confrontation. Members of both families attacked each other with blunt objects, resulting in injuries on both sides.

Chalek Uddin alleged that his parents were attacked by Nur Uddin’s family when they stepped out of their house. He claimed he was struck with a crowbar and bricks while trying to rescue them, suffering a severe head injury that required stitches. Conversely, Nur Uddin lodged a counter-allegation, stating that his family was the one subjected to a sudden assault.

With conflicting accounts from both sides, the actual cause of the incident remains unclear. Police confirmed that complaints have been filed by both families at Churaibari Police Station, and an investigation is underway.
