Agartala, December 23: The Third Biennial State Conference of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, a trade union affiliated with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was held in front of Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan here on Saturday. Hundreds of workers from different parts of the state joined the rally, which was inaugurated by Minister Tinku Roy.

Addressing the gathering, Roy highlighted the achievements of the Modi government in improving the communication system of Tripura, which he said was neglected by the previous Left Front regime. He said that the railway network had been expanded to connect Agartala with Sabroom, the southernmost town of the state, and Badarpur, the gateway to the northeast. He also claimed that the road travel time between Agartala and Dharmanagar, the northernmost town of the state, had been reduced from six hours to two and a half hours.

Roy also accused the Left Front of depriving the tea plantation workers of their rights and land, and said that the BJP government had given land to 2,100 families out of 8,200 under the Labour Welfare Scheme in the last five years. He said that the Prime Minister’s vision of self-reliance meant living with dignity, and that the BJP was committed to the welfare of the workers.

The central leadership of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh also attended the conference and expressed their solidarity with the workers. They urged the workers to support the BJP in the upcoming elections and to spread the message of development and good governance.
