BMS leader creates trouble in GB Bazar area, drivers demand action

Agartala: November 29. People living in and around GB Bazar area are facing trouble, harassment and threats constantly because of one Liton Modak a ‘renowned’ person who claims himself as Bharatiya Majdoor Sangha (BMS) leader.

There are so many allegations which flagged against him so many times.Locals have alleged that Liton is involved in anti-social activities including collecting forceful subscription from local people, auto drivers and from shop owners.Because of him the vehicle drivers, shop owners in GB Bazar area are fed up and frustrated.

Today these frustrated and the helpless auto drivers staged a protest and meet the police personnel of the East Agartala police station demanding action against him.The agitators said that although normally they could have complained to the police on this day, but they didn’t, because this kind of harassment is going on in front of the police every day.

But the police are not able to take any action against Liton Modak as he his backed by ruling BJP. So this time the auto drivers surrounded the police station and demanded an answer. The auto drivers of GB Auto Stand demanded appropriate action against Modak.Auto drivers said that a BMS leader named Litan Modak has been oppressing them for a long time. “Liton Modal constantly threatens the auto drivers of GB-Chandrapur, GB-Dhaleshwar, GB-Motorstand roads and extorting money from them. Since last four years he has been doing all such activities. He stopped the auto in the middle of the road and dragged the passengers from auto. Because of him we are facing many issues not only us but regular passengers, local shop owners too”, the agitators auto drivers told reporters.

The auto drivers also claimed that they have approached police before against him but no actions were initiated.They said that they want to draw the attention of the Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha against him. On this day, after the deputation of the auto drivers of GB Auto Stand to the East Agartala Police Station, the police assured that the matter will be looked into.
