BMS President calls for urgent attention to dilapidated roads

Date:

Agartala, 9th August 2026:  The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) president Debasree Kalai has expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of roads across the state, saying the poor road conditions are causing considerable hardship to transport workers as well as the general public.

Speaking on the issue, the BMS president Kalai said the present weather and seasonal conditions have contributed to the deterioration of roads, while the concerned department is closely monitoring the situation. Kalai expressed confidence that the problems would not continue for long and said the government and Transport Department are taking steps to find a solution.

She stressed the need for greater attention to roads requiring immediate repair, stating that the situation cannot be allowed to continue indefinitely. According to him, transport workers themselves are not responsible for repairing roads, but they play a crucial role in ensuring the movement of essential commodities.

“Through their hard work, our workers transport essential goods, including imports and exports, across different highways and ensure that supplies reach the people,” she said.

The BMS president added that the government is aware of the difficulties faced by both transport workers and the public. She hoped that the concerned departments would take necessary initiatives to repair the damaged roads and provide relief to commuters and workers at the earliest.
