Bridge collapse at Takarjala cuts off key route amid continuous heavy rain

BY TC News Desk

Agartala, 30th May 2025:  The bridge in Takarjala Ramhari Para was submerged in rainwater and eventually collapsed this afternoon due to relentless rainfall over the past two days. The structure spanning the Saida River served as a vital link between Golaghati and Takarjala, but its failure has now severed connectivity between the two areas.

Local residents have long voiced concerns over deteriorating conditions caused by frequent heavy downpours, but their pleas reportedly went unheard. Former MLA Birendra Kishore Debbarma and current MLA Manab Debbarma had previously urged authorities to take action against the persistent rainfall’s impact, yet no decisive measures were taken.

The collapse has exacerbated the already dire situation, leaving residents stranded and raising urgent calls for infrastructural intervention.
