Agartala, 23rd November 2023: In a shocking turn of events, an officer from the G Branch of the Border Security Force (BSF) is facing allegations of theft amidst a successful drug raid operation in Ward No. 3 of Bhelwarchar village panchayat. The incident unfolded during a joint operation conducted by the 150 Battalion BSF and Kalamchoura Police at the residence of Liton Mia.
During the meticulously executed raid, law enforcement authorities recovered a substantial quantity of illegal substances, including 201 bottles of Phencidyl, 300 yaba tablets, and a significant amount of cannabis. The total value of the seized narcotics is estimated to be Rs 5 lakh.
Following the operation, Liton Mia, the proprietor of the house where the contraband was found, was taken into custody by the Kalamchoura Police and subsequently handed over to the Sonamura court. A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was registered against him at the Kalamchoura police station.
However, amidst the success of the drug raid, serious allegations of theft have been leveled against a G-Branch BSF officer. Shilpi Akhtar, the wife of Liton Mia, claimed that after her husband closed their shop for the night, a group of BSF personnel, led by a G-Branch officer, entered their residence without permission. She reported that the officers ransacked their home and destroyed the goods in the store. Shilpi Akhtar asserted that when she attempted to protest, the BSF officer forcibly removed her from the premises.
In a startling revelation, Shilpi Akhtar stated that the G-Branch BSF officer allegedly stole Rs 2 lakh in cash from a bed box inside their house. Promptly responding to the incident, Shilpi Akhtar filed a verbal complaint with the Kalamchoura Police Station and later with the Inspector of G Branch stationed at Kalsimura BOP.
