Agartala, 23rd November 2023: In a shocking incident that unfolded today in Ward No. 8 of the Indira Nagar area under the jurisdiction of Melaghar police station, an ongoing pattern of domestic abuse took a violent turn when a wife resorted to self-defense against her intoxicated and abusive husband.
Kartik Das, a resident of the area, had been a constant source of trouble in the family, often creating chaos under the influence of alcohol and subjecting his wife to obscene language. The situation reached a boiling point on Thursday when, like on previous occasions, Kartik Das returned home in an inebriated state, issuing threats to his wife’s life with profanity. Unable to endure the persistent pain inflicted by her husband, Kartik Das’s wife attacked him with dao. The aftermath of the altercation left Kartik bloodied and disoriented, sitting on the side of the road and speaking incoherently. Concerned locals, witnessing the distressing scene, attempted to assist by urging him to seek medical attention. However, the injured Karthik Das adamantly refused any assistance and remained seated on the roadside.
