Agartala, 23rd November 2023:    In a shocking incident that unfolded under the cover of darkness, two youths hailing from Hojai South Son Bill in Assam allegedly absconded with agar wood valued at approximately two lakh rupees from the residence of Farooq Ali in ward number two of Srinathpur village panchayat, under the jurisdiction of Irani police station.

The accused individuals, identified as Shamim Mia and Hachib Ali, had been residing at Farooq Ali’s house, where they were employed to work on agar cultivation. They had reportedly developed a camaraderie with another youth from Dharmanagar, who was also working alongside them under Farooq Ali’s employ.

Farooq Ali, placing considerable trust in the three young men, had assigned them the responsibility of caring for the agar trees. However, on the night of November 21, Shamim Mia and Hachib Ali allegedly left the youth from Dharmanagar asleep and clandestinely fled with agar wood worth an estimated two lakh rupees.

The theft came to light when Farooq Ali, who had traveled to Assam state with 15,000 rupees in cash and some goods, was informed by a local resident that the two Assamese youths had made off with his valuable agarwood, neatly packed in a bag.
