Agartala, 17th October 2024: In a series of coordinated operations over the last 24 hours, security agencies, including Tripura Police, Government Railway Police (GRP), and the Border Security Force (BSF), have detained three Bangladeshi nationals and four Indian touts across Tripura.
According to BSF sources, on October 16, BSF troops apprehended two Bangladeshi nationals near the Rahimpur Border Outpost (BOP) in Sepahijala district as they attempted to cross into Indian territory by breaching the border fence. Both individuals are residents of Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Following their arrest, a joint operation was launched by BSF and Tripura Police in the Gurangola village of Sepahijala district, which led to the arrest of an Indian tout involved in aiding the infiltration.In a separate operation during the intervening night of October 17, another Bangladeshi national was apprehended by BSF personnel near the Mohanpur BOP in the West Tripura district while attempting to enter India. The individual is a resident of the Chapainawabganj district of Bangladesh.
Additionally, two intelligence-driven operations led by the BSF, in collaboration with the GRP Agartala and Tripura Police, resulted in the arrest of three more Indian touts involved in facilitating illegal cross-border migration and immigration.
“BSF has increased vigilance along the Tripura border and is intensifying surveillance on tout activities to dismantle the tout networks operating along the frontier,” a BSF official said.
