Agartala, 17th November 2025: Tensions have escalated between bus operators of Agartala and Udaipur following allegations of harassment and assault. Udaipur bus drivers claim they have been repeatedly harassed and beaten by their counterparts from Agartala, prompting Udaipur operators to suspend bus services to Agartala since yesterday.
The situation worsened today when Agartala bus drivers passing through Udaipur were allegedly threatened by a group of youths led by Udaipur bus owner Raju Majumder. In response, Agartala bus owners lodged a complaint at Radha Kishorepur police station, accusing Majumder of attempting to tarnish the image of the state’s Chief Minister and ruling party.
Initially, services from Udaipur to Agartala were halted. Now, Agartala bus drivers have announced through the media that all bus operations from Agartala to Gomati and South Tripura districts will remain suspended. They declared that services will not resume until Raju Majumder is removed from his position and a proper investigation is carried out.
