Agartala, 4th June 2026: Normal bus operations resumed on Thursday at the Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Bus Terminal in Nagerjala after the West Tripura Bus and Jeep Drivers’ Association withdrew its indefinite work stoppage call that had been announced a day earlier.
According to leaders of the association, the decision to suspend the strike was taken following intervention at the highest level of the state government. They said the matter was brought to the attention of the Chief Minister on Wednesday night, after which a directive was received to immediately withdraw the work stoppage in the larger interest of the public.
Following the directive, the association’s leadership convened discussions with workers and employees late on Wednesday night. After deliberations, a consensus was reached to call off the strike and restore transport services without delay.
As a result, bus operations at the Nagerjala terminal returned to normal on Thursday, bringing relief to thousands of daily commuters, office-goers, students, and passengers who depend on the transport hub for travel across Tripura and neighboring regions.
Association leaders stated that they had taken the decision keeping in mind the inconvenience that a prolonged strike could cause to the public. They also expressed hope that the issues raised by the association would receive appropriate attention through discussions with the concerned authorities.
The withdrawal of the strike call ensured that transport services remained uninterrupted, preventing major disruptions to passenger movement and normal daily activities across the state.
