Agartala, 4th June 2026: A heart warming reunion has brought immense joy to Pekuchhara Gram Panchayat under Panisagar subdivision, North Tripura. After a long gap of 32 years, Bijoy Das, an elderly resident of Ward No. 3, has miraculously regained his long lost son, Biprajit Das.
Family sources reveal that Biprajit, the eldest among Bijoy Das’s three children, went missing around 1994 at the age of 14. Despite extensive searches, inquiries, and even religious rituals, no trace of him was found. A missing diary was lodged at Panisagar Police Station, but years of waiting yielded no result. Bijoy Das eventually resigned himself to the belief that his son was dead. In the meantime, his wife, Shanti Rani Das, passed away four years ago, leaving him emotionally devastated.
Biprajit narrated that he had left home in search of livelihood, first traveling to Assam, then Mumbai, and finally settling in Patiala, Punjab. Currently employed as a driver in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand, he admitted that fear and hesitation had kept him away for decades. Recently, however, a sudden longing for home overwhelmed him, prompting his journey back. With the help of a local driver, he reached his father’s residence in Panisagar.
At first sight, Bijoy Das could not recognize his son. But upon noticing the childhood scar on Biprajit’s forehead, tears filled his eyes, and he embraced him tightly. Biprajit expressed deep regret at not being able to see his mother again but felt grateful to be reunited with his father and sisters. Though he speaks Bengali with slight hesitation after years away, he is determined to settle permanently at his ancestral home.
News of Biprajit’s return has spread rapidly across Pekuchhara village. Hundreds of locals and relatives gathered at Bijoy Das’s residence to witness the rare and emotional reunion, which has become a moment of collective joy for the community.
