Businessman commits suicide at Boxanagar

Date:

Agartala, 2nd October 2026 : Arun Rudra Pal, a businessman of Boxanagar Bazar, died by suicide after allegedly hanging himself from a bridge near his residence early Friday morning.

According to his parents, Pal left his room around 4 AM without being noticed by family members, including his wife. His father claimed that Pal had been experiencing what the family described as a “supernatural affliction” in recent days and had previously made several suicide attempts, including attempts to hang himself and consume poison, which were prevented by others.

On Friday, however, he allegedly used a plastic rope to hang himself from a bridge near his home. Police are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.

Meanwhile, speculation has emerged locally about a possible marital dispute and an alleged extramarital relationship involving his wife. However, these remain unverified claims, and the actual circumstances behind Pal’s death can only be established through a proper investigation.

Pal is survived by two children, including a student of Navodaya School and a two-year-old child. His death has cast a pall of gloom over the business community of Boxanagar Bazar.
