Agartala, 1st July 2025: A humanitarian gesture from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) has brought a lifeline to the family of Mainabala Nath, a terminal cancer patient from Tripura’s Kanchanpur assembly constituency. Financial assistance amounting to Rs 3,00,000 has been sanctioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Nath’s advanced medical treatment, following an appeal made by local MP Rajib Bhattacharjee.
Mainabala Nath, a resident of Radhamadhabpur in North Tripura district has reportedly been battling cancer for an extended period. With her family facing severe financial hardship, affording the high costs of treatment had become a daunting challenge.
Highlighting the situation, Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee submitted a formal request to the PMNRF. The fund, which provides financial assistance to individuals facing dire medical emergencies, approved the aid after reviewing Nath’s case.
“This donation is more than just financial support. It is a symbol of hope, dignity, and compassion for a family in deep distress. On behalf of the people of Tripura, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his timely and empathetic intervention,” said MP Bhattacharjee.
The Prime Minister’s Relief Fund has historically supported patients requiring treatments for life-threatening illnesses such as cancer, kidney failure, and cardiac diseases. According to official records, hundreds of patients from economically weaker backgrounds across India receive aid annually under this initiative.
MP Bhattacharjee emphasized the broader impact of such assistance: “The Prime Minister has once again demonstrated that governance with empathy can transform lives. This action resonates deeply with families like Mainabala’s who otherwise suffer in silence.”
The family is now making arrangements for her continued care, strengthened by the support extended through the relief fund.
