Agartala, 4th June 2025:  A cattle lost its life after coming into contact with an unbarricaded electric transformer near Dhaliai Road under Sonamura Nagar Panchayat this morning.

The owner Shahjan Mia stated that the animal had approached the roadside to graze when it accidentally made contact with the exposed transformer resulting in instant death. He alleged that the transformer had remained unsecured for a long time, raising concerns over potential accidents. “If it had been a human instead of cattle, who would have taken responsibility?” he questioned.

Upon receiving the report, Power department officials visited the site and advised the cattle herder to approach the concerned authorities. Meanwhile, locals voiced concerns over the widespread negligence, stating that many such transformers across Sonamura lack proper barricades or warning signs, posing a severe threat. Residents fear that without intervention, such incidents could escalate in the future.
