Centre Approves Regular Operation of Agartala–Rani Kamalapati Express

Agartala, 22nd May 2026: In a major relief for railway passengers of Tripura, the Ministry of Railways has approved the regular operation of the Agartala–Rani Kamalapati Special Train following a request made by Member of Parliament Biplab Kumar Deb.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed about the decision through an official letter. According to the communication, the currently operating special train numbered 01666/01665 Agartala–Rani Kamalapati Special has now been granted approval to run as a regular train service.

The train will henceforth operate under new numbers 11666/11665 and will be known as the Agartala–Rani Kamalapati Express.

The decision is being seen as the fulfilment of a long-standing demand of passengers from Tripura. Expressing gratitude to the Railway Minister, MP Biplab Kumar Deb said he had raised the demand keeping in mind the convenience of the travelling public.

He also expressed hope that the Centre’s initiative would greatly benefit the people of Tripura by improving railway connectivity and passenger convenience.
