Agartala, 5th November 2026 : Tipra Motha Party founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma has hinted at a possible breakthrough in the demand for land rights for Tripura’s indigenous communities, stating that a notification on the issue could be issued within a day or two following his recent conversation with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Pradyot said he spoke with the Union Home Minister on Wednesday and indicated that the Centre might soon invite Tipra Motha leaders to New Delhi to discuss the way forward. He expressed hope that the proposed notification would help advance the process of addressing the long-standing land rights concerns of the indigenous population.
According to Pradyot, the next course of action would depend on the recommendations outlined in the notification. He emphasised that the matter needed to be resolved at the earliest, asserting that the protection of indigenous rights was fundamental to the overall development of Tripura.
He maintained that development initiatives in the state would have limited meaning unless the rights and interests of the Tiprasa people were secured. Reiterating his firm position, he said he would not retreat from the demand for justice and recognition for the indigenous community.
The Tipra Motha founder also sent a strong message to his supporters, declaring that he would never compromise on the future of Tripura and the interests of the Tiprasa people as long as he remained alive.
At the same time, he urged people to remain united and not allow political differences to weaken the collective struggle for indigenous rights. He stressed that constructive dialogue and negotiations were necessary to achieve a lasting solution.
Pradyot said the broader objective was to secure a peaceful and developed future for the coming generations, while ensuring that all commitments made under the Tiprasa Accord were fulfilled.
His latest statement has raised expectations of renewed engagement between the Centre and Tipra Motha over the implementation of the accord and the protection of indigenous land rights in Tripura.
